The mission of the Kitchen Specialist Association (KSA) is to create a professional and stable trading environment in which the industry can prosper and consumers can enjoy complete peace-of-mind.As an independent body and non-profit organization, the KSA is able to offer the potential kitchen, bathroom and built-in cupboard purchaser some sound advice with regard to choosing a suitable company.Each member has satisfied a stringent checking procedure before they can join, and more importantly, has to maintain the high standards the KSA insists upon or risk being expelled from the association.The KSA has a broad membership representation including affiliate members who supply to the kitchen, bathroom and built-in cupboard industries.

Free Mediation Service
As a service to the consumer, in the event of a dispute with a member free recourse is available through the Association. The KSA acts as mediator and ensures that the member has supplied the quality of products and standard of workmanship as displayed in their showroom. All members are bound by any ruling handed down by the Association.
Trust Account
In cases where the consumer feels unhappy about paying over large deposits, they may, with the consent of the member, make use of the KSA's Trust Account. The monies are then held in trust and only released to the member when the goods have been delivered to site.
Code of Ethics
Members of the Kitchen Specialists Association will:
- Strive to promote and improve the image of the kitchen industry through their work and dealings with the consumer.
- Provide the highest quality of product in the specific area of the market in which they trade, ensuring that the best materials are used.
- Provide the highest level of service to customers before, during and after the installation of the kitchen
- Offer quality of design, applying the accepted principles of kitchen design in achieving the highest standards of practical layout and aesthetic appeal
- Provide a safe kitchen environment, applying standard safety norms and ensuring compliance with applicable regulations
- Refrain from attacking competitors by reflecting unfairly on their products, service, or business practices, in order to promote their own companies.
- Trade in an ethical manner, according to accepted business practice.
- Advertise in an ethical manner, avoiding misleading offers and discounts.
- Work for the improvement of standards in the kitchen industry, by contributing to research and development and improving training levels.
Membership
The membership of the Kitchen Specialists Association specifies that prospective members should meet some essential criteria, consistent with the Association's stated aims and objectives.
Prospective members should:
- be a registered company in terms of South African law;
- be specialist retailers of kitchen and bathroom (or related) products, professionally marketing their goods via permanent product displays in a public retail showroom outlet(s);
- provide consumers with a specialist service encompassing provision of design, installation and after sales service for all products supplied;
- be an established business having been actively involved in the kitchen industry trading under the same name for a minimum of three years;
- have a sound trading record providing three verifiable trade references from suppliers to the kitchen industry;
- derive their primary source of income from the kitchen business (this refers to "ordinary" members);
- subscribe to the KSA's Code of Ethics;
- agree to abide by any ruling handed down by the KSA in the event of a dispute;
- operate above the average industry standards for the supply of specialist kitchen and bathroom (or related) products i.e. professional business, the highest standards of customer service and workmanship, and the honest ethical business practice.
